Cicada Puppet Theatre has guest performances abroad every year. A significant number of them are realised in municipalities of Hungarian population beyond the borders, or in more remote Hungarian communities. Furthermore, non-verbal productions are performed in several countries, where using foreign languages is mainly important in communication with locals: one must talk to the host organization and the local technicians, as well as correspond in e-mails, prepare English language promotional materials. A similar scenario occurs when Cicada Puppet Theatre hosts foreign performances or works with a foreign director. Of course, our institute has significant international connections, is member of several international professional organizations (UNIMA, Small Size, Erasmus+ tender), with whom the correspondence is carried on by two employees of the puppet theatre who have a C1 level mastery of English. English training, therefore, is inevitable for the main departments of the institution in order that our tasks can be performed more smoothly.
