Clive Chandler is a leading performer of the traditional Punch & Judy show, with a strong national and international reputation. This is a robust style of entertainment that has been widely popular in England for more than 360 years. Performers of Punch are known as 'professors', and Professor Chandler has been presenting his 'World Famous' show more than three decades to great acclaim. He plays to all sorts of people in all sorts of places. He is highly experienced in the art of raising smiles. Mr Punch is relative of the Italian Pulcinella and is a proud part of a wider tradition or family of popular puppets with cousins in many lands. That said, there is something essentially English about Mr Punch and his show is quite distinctive. Clive has travelled to many countries with his portable little theatre, but this is a rare opportunity to see him at work in Hungary.
The colourful cast of glove puppets, in the hands of a true professional, deliver a show that is full of fast moving and funny physical action. It will be presented in English, although its simple silliness should make it sufficiently understandable to all, regardless of spoken language. It is a show for the young and the young at heart, for the child and the child inside us all. It is a joy for all ages. As well as Mr Punch, speaking with his distinctive high-pitched voice, you will meet his wife Judy, and encounter the Horse, the Baby, the Policeman, and the Devil. Oh, and watch out for the Crocodile!The performance is part of the World Festival of Puppets program organized by th 10th Theatre Olimpycs.

Clive Chandler a hagyományos Punch & Judy show egyik legtehetségesebb játékosa. A vásári bábjátszás a maga fanyar, de harsány angol humorával több, mint 360 éve szórakoztatja az angolokat és roppant népszerűségnek örvend Anglia szerte. A Punch előadóit "professzoroknak" nevezik Angliában. Maga Chandler "professzor" több mint 30 éve mutatja be "világhírű" műsorát, és roppant nagy tapasztalattal rendelkezik a mosolyra fakasztás művészetében. Hordozható kis színházával számos országot bejárt már, de ez egy ritka lehetőség, hogy Magyarországon is láthatjuk őt.
Mr Punch az olasz Pulcinella rokona, és büszke tagja a vásári bábfigurák népes családjának, amelynek hasonlóan népszerű rokonai számos országban megtalálhatóak. Nálunk ő, a mindenki által ismert, Vitéz László figura. Mindezen rokonság mellett Mr Punchban van valami alapvetően angol, és a műsora meglehetősen jellegzetes.
Az előadás angol nyelven kerül bemutatásra, de az egyszerű bohóckodás nyelvtől függetlenül mindenki számára érthető lesz. Az előadás a gyermekeknek szól, valamint a mindenkiben ott lakozó gyermeknek így bármilyen korosztályt megkacagtat. A jellegzetes, magas hangján megszólaló Mr Punch mellett találkozhatunk a feleségével, Judyval, a lóval, a babával, a rendőrrel és az ördöggel. Ó, és vigyázzatok a krokodillal!
Az előadást a 10. Színházi Olimpia keretén belül megrendezésre kerülő Bábművészeti Világtalálkozó programsorozat részeként játsszák.
